Bare in Bali - Part 2 (Bali Au Natural)

So I hope you guys read the first part of the article where I wrote about my visit to Laki Uma Villa. I mentioned that there was another mixed nudist villa in Bali, Bali au natural. Unfortunately, I could only spend one day at this please but it felt like a lifetime and something that I have been waiting forever.

This was situated little away from the cities of Bali and takes around a drive from 3.5 hours from the airport. It was located in a secluded place, closer to the city and without the everyday buzz from the city life. Hence I could say that this was a place to relax.

The difference from Laki Uma Villa is that this place was a mixed naturist resort. This was also more spacious with a large pool and some small pools near some villas. In the pool area, nudity is compulsory whereas in other areas it is optional.

I was a bit nervous as this was a mixed place. I did not know how I would react to see clothless females as well. When the owner came and showed me around and explained me the rules, areas I saw people without clothes around the pool but they behaved as natural as possible. It was as if we were meeting them with clothes. Being clothes free did not make any difference.

It was late when I arrived and I was tired so I went to my bungalow and removed all my clothes and wrapped a towel around me and went towards the swimming pool. As it was strictly clothes free I removed the towel and started looking at my phone feeling a bit awkward. Then an old lady just came to me and introduced herself. She was with her husband and was from Perth, Australia. She just said jump to the pool without just texting on the phone. That made me accepted. Then another guy from Dubai came and said hello. It was just normal. Being clothes free did not make any difference or made the moment awkward.

I had a shower and just jumped into the pool where there were about 5 people there already skinny dipping. It was such freedom, such relief and stress-free. Nobody bothered. You just be yourself. As the restaurant was to close by 9 p.m. and I was hungry I went straight to have my dinner. I sat at a table in the corner all by myself when a gentleman asked me to join them without staying alone.

There were about 3 couples, two males who were friends who came together and the rest were single males. The older gentleman introduced everyone to me. They were of mixed ages I think I was the youngest and they were from the early forties, fifties, sixties. They were from all over the world Australia, Dubai, England, Luthivania, States. From their conversations, I found that they were regular visitors for this place. Most of them come every year and they knew each other. They were very warm, friendly and I never felt not belonging or a stranger. It was easy to mingle. Everyone was the same. The gender, age, ethnicity made no difference.

After the dinner, I went back to the pool. You can say that they were well of compared to us by the way they were ordering beers, food and you name it. Many of them came to Bali just to be in the place. Some have been staying for more than a week. This was generally expensive compared to Laki Uma Villa. I swam for a while enjoying the freshness of water and went back to the bungalow to sleep as I had to catch the flight back the next day.

Many people were asking how it will be when you are among other clothless people, especially among females. Well, what I can say is that it is just normal. Many of the women there felt more comfortable than the men. This was indeed freedom for them. A stress buster away from their busy lives. This was a place for them to be free and be who they are. There were no judgments from others. No one stared at you. No one bothered about your sizes, the shapes. When you are there nothing else matter. You just enjoy your liberation.

Bali au Natural is a very quite inactive place. If you are a bookworm, just want to do nothing, you can get yourself drowned in a pool or immersed in a book just being clothes free, this is the best place to be. It offers you plenty of space, books, DVDs to see, tea, coffee. You need to buy your booze. This will not be a place for those who seek a lot of activity, partying.  The place is very clean and well looked after.

This was what exactly I perceived on naturism/nudism. It is a way that you become part of a community who do not judge you, you accept you for who you really are. I would still prefer to be clothes free in a waterfall or a mountain or a forest. But as this is not possible most of the times, these kinds of naturist villas help people to experience the same.

Please do not think about sex, sexuality when you come to a villa like this. There are ample of other places to get those needs satisfied. Come and enjoy the freedom that these types of places offer. It is something that you will feel only at limited occasions. And I personally believe something that you all should experience at least once in your lifetime.

This blog is not on nudism or naturism but a reflection on the travels that I made. This was one of those experiences that I wanted my readers to see through my words. But as always, what you feel for real is far more beautiful and exhilarating than what I could describe using my words. Sometimes it is very difficult to convert your feelings into words and also to convince someone. You need to feel and experience this by yourself.

This ends my personal experience of being bare in Bali. I would continue on my journey looking for similar places in the future as well. I hope you enjoyed reading a different experience.

  1. I visited both Uma Laki and Bali au Naturel last year. I would say that the experience of staying in Bali au Naturel for 3 nights and working remotely there during pandemic is one of the fantastic things I have done in this time of pandemic. There's a vulcanic black sand beach right behind the resort. I snorkled and enjoyed skinny dipping every day there.
